FREE Personal Finance Management Seminar for Artists and Musicians

The Angat Pilipinas Coalition for Financial Literacy and OFW UsapangPiso Forum have found an advocacy partner in the Heart of Music Foundation headed by the legendary “Manila Girl” and Queen of Philippine Ska music Myra Ruaro, more popularly known in the local music scene as Skarlet Brown of the famed alternative/ska bands Put3Ska and Brownbeat All Stars.

Heart of Music is an NGO that seeks to secure and protect the health and livelihoods of local musicians. Skarlet is joined in this advocacy by another passionate jazz music artist and editor/writer Gou de Jesus.

On October 26, 2013 at 3pm, these heroes will conduct a FREE financial learning event for our fellow artists and musicians based in the Philippines. This will be held at the 70’s Bistro located in Anonas Street, Project 2 in Quezon City. Continue reading FREE Personal Finance Management Seminar for Artists and Musicians

Invest in Your Core Gift: Darryl’s Quest for The Voice

Let me take a breather from all the money topics I’ve been blogging lately to give way to a talent and music-related story that I would like to share and promote to my dear readers.

I have always been a supporter of people who are passionate on their craft are appreciating their blessings by using their core gifts to enrich themselves and to inspire others.

My friend, Darryl Shy, now 44 years old, has just been chosen and made it to the first round of the Blind Audtions of The Voice of the Philippines‘ debut run.

His music is just so awesomely powerful. Continue reading Invest in Your Core Gift: Darryl’s Quest for The Voice

Ending A Business Emotionally – Who Misses NU107?

Immense sadness engulfed the Pinoy rock crowd along Garnet and Emerald Streets in Ortigas when NU107 played the Eraserheads’ “Ang Huling El Bimbo” as its final song on air and signed off for the last time a little past midnight on November 8, 2010.  Rock musicians and enthusiasts were orphaned and left without any alternative rock station to listen to and to fill in the void.

Close to 3 years since the station’s demise, the same old rockers and fans still long for the pleasurable noise and rhythm of NU107. Some Facebook group members even speculate a big comeback in November this year. (Rumor-mongering/publicity is sometimes good for a business’ health. :P)

All of us 90’s buffs will never forget the institutional programs of In The Raw, Crossroads, Against The Flow, The Midnight Countdown, Not Radio, Jake/Zach & Joey in the Morning, and the rest of the other successful shows including Rock Ed Radio, University Rock, unTV‘s Strangebrew that ran almost all throughout the whole new millennium.
