“From OFW’s to OFI’s” was coined by our good friend, OFW UsapangPiso co-founder, and fellow financial literacy volunteer Hansen Sy and the phrase has inspired our group to ignite the flame of volunteerism by spreading the advocacy and accomplishing our mission.
How many OFW’s have considered investing back in the Philippines either through business or paper assets? Based on our independent surveys, not even close to 3%. We considered real estate as investment regardless if it’s to be used for generating income or plainly for ownership.
Spreading financial literacy to OFW’s never came handy for the group in the past 3 years. Never been easy. But as one of our volunteers in Manila quipped, “Lets make small ripples of change for the country!”
What fires us up to reach out and do more to help our kababayans? It’s themselves, their hunger for knowledge, and their quest for their own financial freedom.
Here are some inspirational feedback and responses from our attendees in the last “Steps To Financial Security for OFW’s” which took place in Al Khobar, Saudi Arabia:
We do greatly appreciate the effort and time you have provided for the success of the training/seminar “Steps to Financial Security for OFW’s” held last Friday (May 30) at the IPSA. Moreover, the individuals behind this event, such as the ushers/usherettes, photographer/s, most especially the resource speakers and the men and women of the snacks/foods provided. Busog na busog po kami sa knowledge gained on financial literacy with a major-major bonus ng napakasarap na served foods. – Romulo B.
“while on my way kanina, i had a clear view na baka less than 15 individuals lang ang attendees..kaya parang 50/50 ako kung dadalo, but i know it was You Lord who urged me to attend.then as i enter the session room. wow! almost full na, then just before nagstart, may mga seats pang dinadagdag para sa mga walk-in attendees. jampack ang room 303(hehehe).i really feel great na nagbabago na talaga ang pananaw ng mga kababayan nating OFW’s in terms of proper money management and investings. Sarap makita yung mga volunteer speakers na talgang feel mo na gusto nilang tumulong in there own ways.at sa mga attendees naman kita mo talaga yung uhaw sa informations na makukuha sa seminar kanina. and for those na nagtestimony sa experience nila sa stocks/mutual funds/UITF, it was really motivational para sa amin na kinakapa pa ang hiwaga ng investing.
all i can say was a truly successful seminar. a load of KUDOS to the organizers, great speakers, and especially kina ate (ng Al-Shifa dammam) na nag effort na magdala at mamigay ng pansit at sandwich(solb na solb din po!) salamat again sa lahat!
salamat at hanggang sa uulitin sir Burn Gutiérrez….(sana po in future dito rin sa jubail marami po tayong kababayan na uhaw rin po sa infos.)

Nothing beats the real heroes. Those who transform from OFW’s to OFI’s.
A round of salute also to our brave volunteers behind the stage including our spouses and children who joined and supported us in a lot of ways from registration to preparation of meals and all to make these events truly successful.

P.S. 2. The OFW UsapangPiso KSA Chapter will be conducting a series of financial literacy seminars to OFW’s in the Eastern Province and in Bahrain starting on May 23, 2014 (Al Ahsa), May 30 (International Philippine School of Al Khobar or IPSA), and June 20 (JCSGO Manama, Bahrain). Keep on visiting our Facebook group and forum site for updates on these events.
Ok thank you sir..
Yes interested po ako for my future….salamat po s mga info kaso po dto ako s kuwait…

I’m interested also , when will you conduct a seminar here in dubai?
Hi Janine. Hope we will have one again in August. We already had one in March with Randell Tiongson and our Cashflow game event last May.
Hi sir, I’m currently living here in Al Khobar and unfortunately I haven’t attended your seminar last time in IPSA. I didn’t know that you’re coming and knew about it when some of my friends were tagged in the photos. I read your group that you will be conducting again a similar event next week, I am interested to join. I understand that it would be for limited slots and you will prioritize those who attended last time. Anyway, I would like to inquire on how to register and how much it would cost. My officemate is interested also to join.
Thanks!
PS. I’m already investing since I was in the Philippines and I started last year. I want to learn more.
Hi Roland, kindly email me burngutierrezblog@gmail.com
Salamat Reynante!
Hi Burn,
