If you have become proficient in a foreign language after many years of working abroad, you can choose to become a translator online.

Although most clients may require that you have specific certifications to become a translator, there are also a handful who will simply need your help in translating a document or file. But it’s always a winning decision to acquire the appropriate certifications to make sure you sustain your new career for the long term.

3. Tutor

It is a sad fact that many professional Filipinos end up accepting humbling jobs overseas such as carpenters, drivers, waiters, nannies, or domestic helpers.

Many of these OFWs have degrees in management or education. If you really love teaching then becoming a tutor online can be your next life-long career after being an OFW.

You can look for students teach by creating your account in legitimate tutorial websites such as VIPKid, Tutor, Skooli, or Tutorhub. You may need to pursue a license or certification for the subject you want to teach in order to proceed in this kind of online career.

4. Online Coach

If you are an expert in a particular field, you can leverage your knowledge and become a coach and teach students from all over the world.

If you are an engineer, an accountant, an architect, a nurse, a cook, or even a carpenter, you can use the internet to reach anyone that is interested in what you do regardless of their geographical location.

You can create a program or start a blog to document your expertise and share your expertise for a fee.

5. Youtube Vlogger

OFWs are known to be very talented in many ways. Starting a Youtube channel is the current “in” thing to share your passion and talent to the whole world.

Many young Filipinos and millennials have started earning 5 to 6 digits monthly through their Youtube channels just by posting their videos about food, beauty, wellness, health, pets, and other interesting topics. Youtubers are earn from companies that approach them to feature their companies in their videos.

The good thing about YouTube vlogging is that you don’t need to buy an expensive DSLR or point-and-shoot cameras right away. You may start tinkering with your smartphone’s camera and shoot videos that you think will pick the interest of the people on Youtube.

There are endless choices of products to sell online if you are based abroad. Take a look around your city’s supermarkets and observe what products sell the most and upload them in your chosen e-commerce sites.

If you are in the US or Canada, you can visit sea ports and find nearby warehouses and marketplaces that sell hard-to-find products at cheaper prices. You can sell these products on eBay or similar e-commerce websites.

And then if you are working in any of the Southeast Asian countries, you may open a Shopee account and sell products in your country of work. You can then find an opportunity to sell these products in the similar Philippine e-commerce platforms of Shopee and Lazada.

You may also sell products from legitimate direct-selling companies on Facebook and other social media platforms.

7. Home-based Customer Service/Call Center Agent

Upwork and similar freelancing websites have directories for home-based call center agent jobs. You may apply for several positions or try your luck as an inbound or outbound call center agent.
