If you are running a social media group like our OFW UsapangPiso Forum, one of the most moderated posts are those ads of houses and condo units that local real estate brokers and agents are selling. The problem is that they don’t read our posting guidelines/rules first before flooding our walls. Nothing against selling of properties as I myself do sell some passively. (Yes, I don’t like competition). 😛

Seriously, agents and brokers target OFWs and OFW communities in selling their units, boasting of easy installment plans and low interests. There are also a lot to choose from. Pretty tempting for most OFW’s whose goals include owning a house or run a house-for-rent business.

However, people need to examine their situation first whether it’s already the right time for them to buy their first house.  Just because everybody’s buying and news of a good economy keeps on popping up your TV screen, doesn’t mean you have to buy now also.

The Global Financial Crisis Explained

I’ve been experiencing a writer’s block since my birthday last June 9. A writing crisis perhaps. I drafted a few articles intended for the Philippine Independence Day, Father’s Day, and my Father’s death anniversary but never got the chance to finish all of them.

Nevertheless, time has been so precious these days as I’ve been enjoying a lot of quality hours with my family. I also get to answer tons of emails and inquiries in our forum and social sites about how to improve their finances and how to start investing in various financial instruments. There’s actually no crisis in sharing and promoting financial literacy to others.

But one part of teaching about investing is to let them know that risks exist and that we can not eliminate them. We can only reduce them. So it is very important to understand how the whole economic system works and what the risks are before we decide to enter the world of investments. The Family That Invests Together, Stays Together. Forever.

It’s my birthday today. The day is about to end actually. But the celebration of life continues.

When I woke up this morning, tons of birthday greetings filled my email inbox and Facebook timeline. I feel so blessed for having so many friends and loved ones. For me, they are the true wealth in one’s life.

What caught my attention and touched my heart was an email from one of my blog followers, an OFW based in South Korea. I remember him getting inspired and commented on my post about an OFW based in Saudi Arabia who never gave up completing his requirements just to start his investing journey.
