I Trade With My Loose Change

If you are an active trader and you happen to read my post on how my stock portfolio looks like, you would say that I’m a very boring investor.

My 3-guard combo stock market strategy is made up of three parts where the biggest part is dedicated to long-term investing. This is where I buy shares from two of my favorite companies: Ayala Land (ALI) and the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).

Guess why I chose them for my long-term investing. Cost-averaging for these two companies is like feeding green leafy vegetables for my portfolio’s longevity. 😛

The second biggest part is intended for my medium-term investing which uses the strategic averaging method. For the past few months, I have First Philippine Holdings (FPH), Meralco (MER), and Metro Pacific (MPI) that I buy below prices and continue to buy until target prices are hit. And then sell them all. But I may consider one of them to be part of my long-term investing soon.

I Trade With My Loose Change Only

The third part is allocated for my “occasional” technical trading. This is where I do my active “Friday” trading with my “loose change”. I buy low, and sell higher within the day or the coming Monday.

I only trade with money from previous gains that I can afford to lose. I’ve never lost though for the past two years. Well, it could be because the “bull” is my friend for now. But no, I don’t do this everyday. It’s only a Friday thing for me. Because Friday is a weekend where I am right now.

And if ever I will lose money for trading on a Friday, it’s “loose change” that I will not regret losing anyway.

Why I’m A Boring Investor

I don’t monitor my portfolio most of the time. Why?

I have an 8-hour day job to focus on five days a week. I have a blog site to maintain and update every night. I also manage a forum, a couple of Facebook groups, a Facebook page, Twitter, and another website dedicated to guide and promote personal finance and investing to OFW’s, students, and artists.

I also have some online projects that provide me additional passive earnings.

And most of all, I have a wife and a child to spend time with on weeknights and weekends for some fun, rest and leisure. We sing together, play basketball on makeshift ring attached to our kitchen door, and walk around the park and the downtown to feel the cool air and breathe the “nice” smell of our non-Pinoy neighbors. 😀

I also started to work out my abs every morning. 😛

(Trivia: Weekends in Saudi Arabia/Bahrain [some companies] are Thursdays and Fridays while the rest of the Middle East are on Fridays and Saturdays)
